EDD User Flag Codes

Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) User Flag Codes (flag_code) designate the reason a user was flagged for EDD review. Please note that steps in this process may be bypassed if Compliance finds the user to be fraudulent (e.g. if user supplies fraudulent documents, in which case the user would be immediately LOCKED with "permission_code": "KYC_FRAUD|FRAUDULENT_DOCS").

Platform Flag Codes

Platforms can submit two types of requests to flag users for review. This can either lead to requests from Synapse's Compliance team for additional documentation or to immediate decisioning to a final status user flag code.

User has been deemed as high risk because of the documents uploaded during the onboarding process or based on the activity through the account and must be reviewed for account closure.

Can lead to ACCOUNT_CLOSURE|HIGH_RISK flag code if Compliance confirms that user presents a high risk to Synapse and our partner banks.

Synapse Flag Codes

Synapse's Compliance team can manually assign user flag codes based on the results of EDD review, or flag codes can be automatically assigned based on expectations for user to provide timely responses for documentation requests (e.g. within 14-day deadline).

Document Request Flag Codes

After a user has been flagged by a Platform, Synapse's Compliance team may require the user to provide additional documentation.

If a user provides documentation as required by one of the document request flag codes above, the user flag will change to the appropriate document review flag codes below.

The user is operating within a blocked industry and the account must be closed.

This is a final status, and the account will be closed automatically in 14 days. Funds on deposit will be sent via check to the address on file.

At closure the user should be generally be LOCKED with lock reason ( permission_code) of BLOCKED_INDUSTRY.
This message is to notify you that your account will be closed in 14 days due to compliance concerns. You may continue to transact over the next 14 days but please withdraw funds before . On any remaining balance will be sent via check to the address on file with us.

ACCOUNT_CLOSURE|
HIGH_RISK
The user has been determined to present a high risk to Synapse and our partner banks and the account must be closed.

This is a final status, and the account will be closed automatically in 14 days. Funds on deposit will be sent via check to the address on file.

At closure the user should generally be LOCKED with lock reason ( permission_code) of UNUSUAL_ACTIVITY|COMPLIANCE_SUSPICIOUS.
This message is to notify you that your account will be closed in 14 days due to compliance concerns. You may continue to transact over the next 14 days but please withdraw funds before . On any remaining balance will be sent via check to the address on file with us.
